Telehealth: Laws, Ethics & Best Practices in Work with System Involved
Youth and Families – 3 CAMFT & BRN CE Credits
Training
Summary:
Technology has
drastically evolved mental health services, especially since the pandemic in
2020. These changes have made access to care more accessible, while also
highlighting new concerns about how to best join, collaborate, and serve
clients effectively using technology as the platform. In this Telehealth
course, we will cover applicable legal, ethical and clinical issues related to
Telehealth in the state of California. Specific topics include legal and
ethical requirements, current best practices for Telehealth, security and
confidentiality, engagement, contact between sessions, etc. The research used
supports the ethical, legal, statutory, and regulatory standards related to
Telehealth. Research was derived from several sources with a focus on professionals
providing behavioral health services remotely such as telehealth.org, The
California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (2019) and the
American Medical Association.
