Training Summary: Provide a couple sentences summary (content themes/training techniques, and how this training is relevant to working with children who live in out of home care)

Intercultural communication involves the sharing of information across different cultures and social location and seeks to understand the differences in how people from diverse perspectives most effectively work together. We will work to increase understanding of the different factors at play when communicating with folks of different backgrounds to ensure increased collaboration and facilitate repair when miscommunications take place. Knowing who we are and what we bring to our teams helps inform how we can effectively nourish positive relationships at work. Reflective-based activities will increase participants’ understanding of self. Media used will build off the lecture content to optimize the space for all learning styles as the training explores ways in communicating across lines of difference.

Participants will:

·         -Increase their understanding of their role in eco system of change and to navigate that identity in a team setting

·         -Develop strategies to manage cross-cultural conversations.

·         -Reflect on their own multiple dimensions of self and triangulate it in relationships to others in the context of communication

 

How can participants utilize their new skills and knowledge after the training to reinforce their learning? (provide at least 2 transfer of learning strategies)

·         -The ability to name, explore, and learn new skills for their role in the eco-system of change

·        - Increased knowledge of how personal values are formed from social location
