TRAINING SUMMARY & OBJECTIVES

 

Training Summary:

 

Participants will discuss several different categories of behavior support strategies to use with youth including individual and group support strategies as well as crisis communication techniques. Participants will learn how to prepare youth to support themselves and work toward their goals when they are no longer in care. Didactic presentation, group discussion, art and visualization exercises are utilized.

 

Class Objectives:

  • Staff members will be able to define the various categories of behavior support strategies and describe situations for which each category would be most appropriate

  • Staff members will explore the support strategies listed in the Equilibrium manual and will discuss the behavior support strategies that are least often utilized and/or they are not sure how to utilize effectively in order to increase their “tool boxes”

  • Staff will practice generating support strategy ideas for various scenarios and will practice giving feedback around strategy efficacy during role plays
