Class Description:

IMPORTANT: This training is for group homes and STRTPs that serve Monterey County foster youth. However, it is also open to other eligible participants who serve Monterey County foster youth.




Course Description:

This training is designed to support staff working with youth in care in understanding Compassion Fatigue, Vicarious Trauma and Burnout in order to allow them to better support youth who have experienced trauma. Participants will have opportunities to discuss their personal experiences, learn from each other, and review current literature on Compassion Fatigue and self-care in order to help them identify when it is happening in themselves and others. Participants will discuss strategies on how to alleviate Compassion Fatigue in order to stay in relationship with youth and provide the best quality care.
