Workshop Description:

This training will introduce the Genogram as a tool to assess, identify family dynamics, and build rapport. The Genogram could also be utilized to identify migration patterns and guide treatment. Participants will learn the pros and cons of the genogram as a tool in supporting kids and families. Most importantly the training will be provided in Spanish as it is the primary language of the clients served. Additionally, it has been expected for bilingual clinicians to provide therapy in Spanish with few to no training in Spanish.

 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Name one pro and one con for using the genogram with kids and families

  2. Identify how the use of the Genogram in the assessment phase and ongoing therapy can be a less intrusive and more engaging for clients

  3. Learn new clinical terms in Spanish

 

About the Presenter:

Dr. Dulce Lopez, Psy.D. has over 14 years’ experience as a clinician in Southern and Northern California and two years as a supervisor. Dr. Lopez has over 8 years as a Keynote Speaker, presenter, mentor and retreat facilitator. Often speaking on the Metamorfosis journey as it relates to mental health of Latino population. Her experiences studying abroad in Mexico City, London and India have given her a broader perspective on the mental health needs. Additionally, Dr. Lopez received a certificate to provide mental health services to the Latino population.
